2021.10.27 04:03 Malchai_Askiri Saint Ronny
The game was D&D 3.5. A group I played with consisted of five players. A hellborn paladin, a half-elf arcane trickster, a goliath barbarian with the Wings template, a human cleric who was doing something with True-Name summoning, a human cleric with the Saint template and myself, the party wizard.
I have always had a ton of fun playing quintessential non OP characters and typically gravitate towards spell-casters. My character in this particular game was a basic wizard who prestige classed into a Mage of the Arcane Order. There were three magic academies in this DM's world. The one I belonged to was a free academy of magi.
As the character was created midway through an epic campaign arc he started his journey as more than a fledgling wizard. His story was that he had already graduated his training and was talented enough to warrant position working for the school where he helped tutor current students which mostly consisted of talentless hacks who didn't have an ounce of magical aptitude but whose aristocratic parents paid exorbitant sums of money to attend just so that they could tell all their friends at dinner parties that they had a wizard in the family. And on his off time he had easy access to one of the largest magical libraries in the known world and used the bulk of his salary to purchase new spells.
When the campaign first began, this magical university was ruthlessly assaulted by what can only be described as a small army of fire elementals. Most of the instructors had contingencies that translocated them to a safe place in the event of danger, the epic level archmage that was essentially the Dumbledore of this little Hogwartz was away and with only a token defense of a few golems and some over-paid security guards the vast majority of students and faculty were cut down. My characters story begins as a flashback to this attack. In fact, the only thing he saw was a man in red robes who promptly incinerated him with a fireball. But thanks to the magic of plot armor, I survived the encounter and began my adventure.
Now, as I've stated already, I enjoy quintessential non OP characters and sometimes I'm forced to suffer for that. My poor mage had a near death experience in every campaign we played. And to make matters worse, it was almost always the fault of the cleric. Saint Ronny. Buried in a cave-in? Check. Saint Ronny tripped a trap the rogue couldn't disarm and didn't wait for the party to get clear and I failed my reflex save. Withheld magical healing? Check. Saint Ronny forced me to constantly rely on my own potions since I'd taken the "brew potions" feat at first level and I was beaten to death more than once. Used a cursed Wand of Wonder on me because I refused to identify his loot in retaliation for him constantly getting me killed. Check. It re-arranged my hands with my feet for a time and then sent me on a sight-seeing tour of the Abyss with a advanced HD Death Slaad called "The Jester" who the party needed to retrieve an item from the lower planes. Dumped into a coliseum for a 1v1 duel to the death with a Hellfire Warlock? Double check. Saint Ronny thought it would be a good idea to pick a fight with an influential merchant for a manuscript we needed. The merchant promptly donated it and used it as a reward to lure the powerful adventurers who had been flashing their money all over town to the coliseum in order to draw a larger crowd. (Also Saint Ronny's doing) I didn't actually die in that fight, but was so badly burned that the rest of the campaign people kept thinking that I was a lich.
By now you're probably wondering why I keep calling him "Saint Ronny". Well, it's because (without consulting our DM mind you) Ronny decided to apply a template to his character from the Book of Exalted Deeds called "Saint". Ronny was a total min-maxxer who got off on being the most powerful member of the party. The problem with Ronny is that he only ever knew how to make this glass canon characters and then promptly got himself killed in the most inept of ways. The Saint was his longest running character to that point in the campaign and it was only because of the mad bonuses he got from applying the template. Not the least of which was complete immunity from magic spells of 5th level and below. And while he would never out-right admit it. Ronny hated me, mostly because I was always calling bullshit on his ridiculous characters who inevitably ended up trying to kill mine no matter what campaign we were playing.
And to no ones surprise he eventually did it again. My wizard had begun the game Neutral Good. However being thrust from the comforting world of academia into the cold harsh reality of an adventurer was beginning to take its toll. The consistent near death experiences at the hands of the party cleric, multiple energy drains and the fact that he looked so much like a lich he successfully bluffed a powerful vampire lord into leaving town may have played a crucial role in not only shifting his alignment clear over to chaotic neutral but also completely driving his sanity from him. (Personally I think the leisurely stroll through the abyss with the Slaad may have been the final straw.)
So when we invaded an island twisted by the machinations of a Greckle Grell Lich and found our way into its laboratory we saw that the lich was creating aberrations. A new race to worship it as their creator and elevate it into godhood. My wizard went a little "wall of firey" on the sleeping test tube monsters. The Saint decided that this was all the justification he needed to finally lay waste to my character. As a Exalted Saint he could not stand idly while I murdered the innocent unborn abominations. Fortunately this was a moment I was well prepared for. With an advanced intelligence I made a roll to determine the exact dimensions of the hall outside the lab and lured Saint Ronny into it. My first round of combat I began with greater invisibility and attempted to try to reason with the Saint as we were neck deep in hostile territory. I knew it was fruitless but he began making listen checks to try and drop flamestrikes where I was standing. Once I'd successfully lured him out into the hall I conjured 2 large earth elementals which Saint Ronny promptly ignored due to him being generally arrogant and kindv'e stupid. To be fair he had me dead to rights on every front. He had more hitpoints than me. A higher BAB than me. An AC I couldn't hope to touch and complete immunity to any magic I could throw at him below 5th level. Saint Ronny continued attempting to pinpoint my location and got pretty close to a couple of flamestrikes and then I cast Wall of Iron. Utilizing the exact dimensions of the room I was able to split it in two.
Now, unlike most wall spells Wall of Iron in 3.5 specifically stated that it can be conjured "on top of" the ground. And is the only wall spell that can be physically manipulated (other than destroyed) after it is conjured rather than being rooted in its location for the duration. Which was permanent in the case of Wall of Iron. I made this wall tall, long and most importantly, thin. Less than 4 inches thick iirc. The spell also states that the wall can be knocked over with a high strength check. Remember those earth elementals? I did. And the look on Saint Ronny's face when the combined strength check of those elementals that were (and I quote) "Of no threat to me whatsoever" tipped that wall right over on top of Saint Ronny who had no hope of escape. Then proceeded to walk out on top of said wall to where Saint Ronny had been standing. Turned to face each other, placed their hands on each others shoulders and started taking turns jumping up and down as Saint Ronny was slowly crushed beneath a (I can't even remember how many tons) of iron and rock.
You're probably wondering why, if the group was annoyed with his constant attempts to pvp other party members did we not remove him from our games. The best answer I can come up with is that to his eternal frustration and the rest of the groups eternal bemusement, despite him always having these ridiculous min-max characters and me making the most normal people I could come up with in any setting, he always somehow managed to fail. He was sort of like the Starscream to my Megatron. I understood that dynamic a little better after knowing Saint Ronny. The reason we didn't just kick him out of the group for his never-ending shenanigans is the same reason that Megatron never killed Starscream. It was just too spectacular watching him try so hard, fail so thoroughly, get so upset and then do it all over again.
TLDR - Group min-maxxing edgelord and pvp instigator gets his.

2021.10.27 04:03 Traditional_Bird_877 How to properly make routes?
I need to do the following routes in this order:
1- Request at / (home page) prompts the user to enter their name.
2- Request at /John prompts the user to enter their age via an HTML form.
3- Request at /John?age=17 tells that John is too young to visit the website.
I made it to the point the user enter his name (/) but then it redirects to http://localhost:3000/:name/:ageand it says: 'You are too young to visit the website.'
So it doesn't allow me to enter the age.
And it redirects to :name/:age while it should to /John
I've been with this for many days so thanks for any help since Im really stuck with this.
Here's my age.html:
